Meet the Blogger

Hello! My name is Kari and I am addicted to reading. I’ve been a book lover all my life and wanted to share that love with others.

So you might be thinking, there are so many blogs already, why start one? I know, I know. The blogging world is over-saturated with about every type of blog you can think of. But you know what, that’s okay. One of the reasons I wanted to start this blog, is because I have found that some people can be judgmental about certain genres. I have especially noticed this in the past couple of years since my taste in books has evolved, grown, and changed.

I find this judgment occurs particularly when referring to the young adult or romance genres. For some reason, some people think if you are past the age of 20 and still enjoy reading young adult novels, than you are not “intellectual” enough. That pertains to romance novels as well. People hear about a book like Fifty Shades of Grey and think all romance novels are like that. (P.S. I’ve never read Fifty Shades, but if you have, more power to ya.) When in reality, a romance novel is defined as: “[a] type of genre fiction [that places the] primary focus on the relationship and romantic love between two people, and must have an emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending.”* That could describe novels that aren’t located on the romance aisle of you favorite bookstore.

Anyways, that feeling of being judged for what you are reading… sucks. You would think that in this day and age, where more and more people are becoming addicted to their phones, the world would just be grateful that there are people still reading books.

So whether you read on an e-Reader, or you prefer paperbacks, I am glad you are reading. If you are a 60-something year-old woman who loves young adult novels, a 20-something year-old guy who loves a good romance book, or a teenager who loves the classics, then I am here to tell you that is awesome!

My motto when it comes to reading is this: it does not matter what you are reading, just as long as you are.
